Negamold® is a type of quality preservation agent product from our company which has two functions: Antimold-Mild® which prevents the growth of microbes with alcohol and oxygen absorber. It is suitable for foods with high water activity values and has the function of controlling mold as well as the growth of Bacillus subtilis and the fermentation of yeast.

There are two types of Negamold: the moisture-dependent type and the self-reaction type.

  • Moisture-dependent type: deoxygenates when it comes into contact with moisture that occurs from food. Please use this for foods with a water activity value of 0.85 or more.
  • Self-reaction type: starts deoxygenation as soon as it comes into contact with air. It is possible to use for foods that is water activity value of 0.85 or less.

 

 

Safety

  • The ethanol is absorbed into silica gel and the powder mixed with iron powder, then small packets made of special film are filled with this.
  • The wrapping materials and contents use completely safe materials and have no effect on the human body.
  • The safety of the contents has been verified through acute toxicity tests done by Japan Food Research Laboratories.
  • The wrapping materials have passed the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Notification No. 370 test.

Product packaging size

There are two types of Negamold R: the moisture-dependent type and the self-reaction type. The moisture-dependent type is sold in both single wrapping and roll-wrapping format.

Grade selection method

  1. Please use materials for packeging film through which it is difficult for oxygen and ethanol to pass.
    Please use oxygen transmittance: less than 200ml/m²/day/MPa and ethanol transmittance: less than 10g/m²/day (40℃).
  2. Estimate oxygen quantities inside food package with Negamold enclosed and select the Negamold grage (size) that matches the quantity of oxygen.

    - Method to estimate oxygen quantities inside food package -
    The air contains around 20% oxygen. Calculate the amount of air inside the packaging and multiply it by 0.2 to calculate the amount of oxygen inside the package.

    Oxygen inside package = (capacity of packaging interior – food volume) × 0.2

     < E.g. >

    {(10cm × 10cm × 15cm) - 560ml } × 0.2 = 188ml
       ->Therefore, the appropriate product is Negamold grade 200

  3. Actual product configuration tests must be conducted to check the effects of Negamold.
    Possible food preservation periods are affected by packagingwrapping methods, season of manufacture, environment and storage temperature, even for the same food.

 

Instructions (for consumers using the product)

[ Single packet type ]

  1. Please use within 15 minutes of opening (25℃)
  2. There are notches (slits) on each package so please use these to open the packages.
    Please note that the packages are filled with small bags up to the notches so be careful not to rip any of the bags.

 

[ Continuous packets Type ]

  1. Please use within 3 hours of opening (25℃)
  2. The start is clearly written on a sticker on the external packaging. Please use from the start after opening.

 

[ Common Points  for Single packet type and continuous packets Type ]

  1. Please use materials through which it is difficult for oxygen to pass (oxygen transmittance of less than 200m1/m²/24hr/MPa) with low alcohol transmittance in product packaging (less than 10g/m²/24hr (40℃)).
  2. If using one packet in assembled packages, please make holes in the individual packaging (around 8 holes of 3mm per 100cm² of packaging)
  3. Please do not use knives or blades when opening cardboard boxes. Use of such implements could damage the products inside.
  4. Please do not use the product if the external packaging is blown before it is taken out of the box and is still intact as there is the possibility of defective pinholes or stickers (they are usually deaerated).
  5. If you are not going to use all of them, please make sure there is as little air as possible in the external packaging and store them after heat sealing. It is possible to store them with a clip for short periods of time such as break times.

 

[ Others ]

  1. The Negamold deoxygenation rate becomes slower the lower the temperature becomes and is extremely slow at 5℃ and under.
  2. When using Negamold and inert gas together, please avoid the use of carbon dioxide.
  3. When using with vacuum packaging, Negamold may stick to the food and the wrapping film and deoxygenation and ethanol transpiration may not be possible. Please conduct light deaeration to the degree that air can circulate within the packaging.

Instructions (for general consumers)

Negamold is enclosed in food packaging in order to preserve the good taste of food and allow consumers to eat food safely.

 

[ Safety and Instructions ]

1. If accidentally eaten or swallowed
Negamold wrapping materials and contents use safe materials and have no effect on the human body.
Usually no special treatment is required as even if it is absorbed into the body, it will be excreted with no reaction. If necessary rinse the affected person mouth with water. If there are something wrong seek medical treatments.
The surface of the product is printed with ‘Do not eat’ but this is only to signify that it is not a foodstuff.
Please be assured that the contents are safe materials that can be used in foodstuffs packaging.

 

2. If accidentally soaked in alcohol or juice
Even if soaked for a long time, it will have no effect on the liquid so you can just take the Anti-mold out and drink it.

 

3. If boiled with noodles, etc.
There is no effect on either the noodles or the water.
There are rare cases in which the small bag will burst due to heat and the powder inside will spill out but it will not dissolve in hot water or react with seasonings.

 

4. If heated in a microwave oven
It will not burn or spark but the small bag may open due to the heat and the powder inside may spill out.

 

5. Disposal methods
Please dispose of this product according to local government trash separation rules.
* As the contents are unburnable, this product is designated as unburnable trash in most places.

Oxygen detection agent(Nyoxal)

We provide the oxygen detection agent, Nyoxal, in order to check whether products to which Nega-mold has been enclosed in foodpackage are being deoxygenated correctly.
This is a water and alcohol resistant oxygen detection agent and it can be used in a high moisture/alcohol atmosphere.
Sold in both single wrapping and continuous-wrapping format.
* The continuous-type requires a special sticker device.
